Bride trafficking is a severe form of human trafficking where women and girls are coerced, deceived, or outright kidnapped and sold into forced marriages. This heinous practice strips individuals of their autonomy, subjecting them to physical, emotional, and psychological abuse.

Bride trafficking is often intertwined with other social issues such as child marriage, modern-day slavery, and gender-based violence. Child marriage, where girls are married off at a young age, often overlaps with bride trafficking, and traffickers exploit the vulnerabilities of impoverished families. Modern-day slavery manifests in the form of forced labor and sexual exploitation, with trafficked brides being treated as property rather than individuals with rights and dignity. These practices perpetuate cycles of poverty, illiteracy, and gender inequality, further entrenching the survivors in a web of socio-economic exploitation.

Efforts to combat this crisis include promoting gender equality, ensuring access to education, and eradicating poverty. These measures are crucial in the fight against bride trafficking and the broader spectrum of human trafficking.
