Empower People organized a two-day Knowledge and skill building workshop on Basic Management, Negotiation, Conflict Resolution, Networking and Advocacy skills from 24th November 2022 to 25th November 2022. The program was held at Kashyap Dharmshala, Pratap Nagar of Yamuna Nagar, Haryana. Dildar Hussain, district coordinator Empower People coordinated the program to ensure the event's success. The session was attended by around 100 survivors from across the district. The project SEAL aims to ensure long-lasting socio-economic security of the survivors in Yamuna Nagar, Haryana. The workshop was conducted to train the rural women entrepreneurs to enhance their knowledge, skills and abilities in business development skills so that they can manage their small-scale businesses on a more sustainable basis. The focus of the workshop was to enhance Basic Management, Negotiation, Conflict Resolution, Networking and Advocacy skills. In addition, other discussions were banks and other finance routes. The workshop was inaugurated Mr. Dushyant Chaudhari, chief judicial magistrate cum secretary DLSA Yamuna Nagar. He gave an inaugural keynote address emphasized that this workshop is very important to have good understanding of running your own businesses and also to inculcate leadership skills, communication and inter personal skills. This will help the women to be productive and build strong and positive relationship and complete team projects smoothly and effectively. After the Inaugural ceremony, a highly interactive session was conducted on Negotiation, Conflict Resolution and Advocacy skills, examples were also provided for goal setting and achieving them. An activity was conducted to develop the understanding of active listening so that if any conflict is developed it can be solved through understanding of other person’s point of view and by conveying our own point. The next session begins with explaining the importance of Networking. How networking helps in learn about new trends, sharing of insights and receive valuable mentorship. It was explained to women that business networking is important because it will allow you to identify new opportunities and increase your chances of entrepreneurial success. After this basic management was explained to them through example from day-to-day life. After this some activities were performed related to the theme of “International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women” to provide information about the day to the women.
The women present at the workshop manifested desire to become financially independent and establish their own businesses from home. Women were asked to provide input on the kind of training they would require through Empower People so that the following steps could be arranged.
