ASAP (Activating Survivor Advocacy Program)
Location
Haryana
Project type
Funded by COLLECTIVE GOOD FOUNDATION (CGF)
Bride trafficking leads to severe human rights violations, including domestic violence, denial of property rights, and forced labor. It is a widely recognized yet not penalized crime, making it easier to engage in the unrestricted import of girls and the sale and purchase of human beings behind the curtain of marriage. The project will aim to improve existing mechanisms and relevant legislation by drawing connections and developing a mechanism in the form of an SOP to support victims and address the root causes.
This project will advocate for policy changes to address bride trafficking and support survivors. By improving existing legal and support mechanisms for victims and strengthening the response of government agencies, this project aims to ensure accountability for perpetrators and promote justice for survivors. This project includes survivor-led advocacy efforts to influence policy decisions and its focus on developing a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to guide the response to bride trafficking cases.
