The NCRB(National Crime Records Bureau) reports suggest, we presently have only limited information of trafficking cases occurring in India. The challenges we face are multi-fold: firstly, identification of trafficking cases and working towards rescue and rehabilitation of victims and secondly, prevention of trafficking that can happen only with greater awareness. Thirdly, complexities arise because while trafficking takes place within the country, India is also a source, destination and transit point for global trafficking.

It is true that all of this presents a very dark picture that seems almost impossible to address. Yet, through the efforts of the government machinery and several committed organisations and individuals we have over the years prevented many cases of trafficking and rescued and rehabilitated a number of victims. It is in this context that the work of Empower People and its zealous team gains significance.
The Organization has worked on prevention, rescue and rehabilitation of trafficking among women at the field level and raised awareness among all stakeholders - government, community and families. 

Since its inception in 2006, Empower People has worked to cultivate a sense of empowerment, spirit of self-reliance and self-respect among survivors of violence and trafficking, and develop creative solutions towards the same. The organisation has also sought to contribute to peaceful coexistence of communities and diversity of gender, region and religion. 

In the years to come, it is our endeavour to strengthen these efforts, make them more systematic, network with other non-governmental organisations and government agencies working in this area. Towards this goal, we look forward to your support.
